Mac: Farewell, Classic!
With Mac OS 10.5 hitting the shelves a few days ago many great features, an overall nicer and quicker operating system are invading our personal computer world.
I've enjoyed working with Spaces, finding many new, fairly hidden features without stumbling over too many bugs - this is an impressive collection of kit, software wise.
However, before upgrading the last machine I realized what a full Leopard network would mean: No more OS 9 - no more classic!
Quite sentimental actually, we have loved and hated you equally, sometimes, yet our heart and soul is still connected to you in some way. Now with OS X changing the Boot icons slowly away from the good old ones we could clearly feel where this was going.
So I did the only thing I deemed right: I put on my splendid oldschool modern 8-Bit tie, grabbed a bottle of Coke, leaned back, launched Carmageddon 2 and let the memories overwhelm, amaze and make me lament.
Thank you and farewell, Classic. This is your second and probably final funeral now. We will miss you!
