World of Warcraft Mac video capturing
Blizzard has finally implemented video capturing into WoW - been waiting for this for quite an amount of time.
Now it's here. And it sucks. I like the fact that you can ignore the interface when capturing, record WoW sound only and set a few other options. You can also queue the compression of videos, so you don't have to compress/convert while playing and can just continue recording, as opposed to Snapz.
It is horridly slow though, I don't get more than 4-5 fps out of it - which doesn't work for videos really I'm afraid to say. In addition to that you can only record the full screen. No options of cropping/only recording certain fragments, like you could with Snapz. And it's even slower than Snapz! :(
I will have to get that Mac Pro after all I guess.
Sniff.
Update:
Apparently, when adding Zul'Aman they took some care of OpenGL Support alongside the Leopard release.
It works fairly nicely now even on lower end machine - but uses INSANE amounts of harddrive space, so enjoy and be warned.
Finding the right settings for your system might take a while though, so get prepared before your first big boss kill. :P
